Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company today announced that it had been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the fifth year in a row.
A total of 1,813 companies were assessed from around the world of which 319 were chosen as the DJSI World constituents for the year 2014-15. The infotech services sector saw 74 companies participating globally of which seven were selected for the index.
DJSI is a leading global indicator tracking the financial performance of companies across industries that outperform on sustainability. The selection was done after a rigorous evaluation of Wipro’s performance in economic, environment and social sustainability like climate change, corporate governance, innovation, labor practices and digital inclusion.
“We are honored to be included as a member in the DJSI (World) for the fifth successive year. DJSI’s rigorous and comprehensive assessment helps us constantly calibrate and strengthen our sustainability programs across economic, ecological and social dimensions,” said Anurag Behar, chief sustainability officer, Wipro.
The DJSI follows a best-in-class approach, including companies that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics. Launched in 1999, the DJSI are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.
